Favorite Releases for 2010

Here it is, that special time of year when we all take stock of the fantastic number of releases from the past year. I personally found that 2010 offered more than the usual number of great releases from bands both new and familiar. As always, I invite everyone to add their list by emailing it via the Comment field so that we all can take a gander and, hopefully, communicate with each other about specific inclusions.

‘Tis The Season

As we enter the last week before Christmas, I just want to remind everyone that we have one more order drop this week– so if you need something special ordered in time for the holidays, we may very well be able to get it to you by Wednesday. Orders go out on Sunday at 5pm so this is the last weekend for any holiday orders.

Also- Gift Cards are available for those who can’t decide or know what to get their music lover this season. I’ve always believed that gift cards make great gifts.

If you’re really not sure and need some ideas, especially for vinyl, please check out our online store. We still have Discology tote bags in stock too.

Thanks to everyone who has been in already even though the weather hasn’t been the best. We’ll see what the weather brings this week.

Have a safe and happy holiday!
David– your local Discologist

Hear ye! Hear  ye!

The great folks at Record Store Day have worked up another fantastic promotion with the equally great band The Decemberists.

Here’s how it works:

If you come into Discology and purchase their new 7″/45 for the songs “January Hymn”/ “Row Jimmy” (Grateful Dead cover) for $2.00 plus tax, then along with the 7″, you’ll receive a postcard with a detachable coupon for $2.00 off the purchase of their new album The King Is Dead. The new album will be available on a number of formats including CD, Vinyl and a deluxe box set.  The coupon is valid for one month from the street date of the release of the new album– which is January 18th.

The folks at Record Store Day have just announced that on the day after Thanksgiving– Black Friday– this will be a major new release day consisting of nearly 50 new pieces by almost as many bands. Formats include 7″, 10″ and 12″ Vinyl, CDs, and even a DVD or two. The list below is everything thus far with more to be added as they are announced.

Please be aware that the pre-ordering option has now been removed due to a contract update with the folks at RSD. We will try to get in as many pieces as possible in store and keep this as a physical in-store event only– which is what the event has always been about. Unfortunately, too many people have been ruining it for the rest of the class, as it were, by selling product on-line and gouging after the fact.

PLEASE NOTE: that all prices listed after the title are the retail price before tax.
